NOx limits for boilers - ohioepa.custhelp
Aug 06, 2008· For boilers with a heat input capacity greater than 20 mmBtu/hour equal to or less than 50 MMBtu/hr, there is no specific NOx emission limitation to comply with. However, an annual tuneup of the boiler burners is required. Any boiler with a heat input capacity rating of less than or equal to 20 MMBtu/hour is exempt from the rule.

The latest limits from Ecodesign in September 2018 reduced the emission level on all natural gas boilers up to and including 400kW to a level of 56mg/kW. This changed from net figures to gross. The previous best classification was Class 5 and stated at 70mg/kWh net. 56mg/kWh gross converted is 62mg/kWh net, so a reduction has been made.

Dec 16, 2017· Combustion control techniques reduce the amount of NOx emission by limiting the amount of NOx formation during the combustion process. This is typically accomplished by lowering flame temperatures. Combustion control techniques are more economical than post combustion methods and are frequently utilized on industrial boilers requiring NOx controls.

Theoretically, there is no limit to the amount of NOx reduction with FGR; practically, there is a physical, feasible limit. The limit of NOx reduction varies for different fuels Ñ 80% for natural gas and 20-25% for standard fuel oils. The current trends with low NOx technologies are to design the boiler and low NOx equipment as a package.
Read MoreWhat is the standard value of SOX & NOX in furnace stack
SOX quantity in the exhaust gas is twice the sulphur feed rate in the fuel. For example if we are using 100 tonnes of fuel per hour and fuel sulphur content is 2 % then feed rate of sulphur would be 2 tonnes per hour and if all of it burns then it will form 4 tonnes of SOX (64/32 ). Normally you may assume about 95% of sulphur would be oxidised that makes it 0.95*4 = 3.8 tonnes per hour.

Generally, the OTC program requires large electricity generating and industrial NOx sources in southern New England to meet a NOx cap equivalent to the sources reducing 55% - 65% from a 1990 baseline, or emitting at a rate no greater than 0.20 pounds of NOx per million Btu of heat input (lb NOx/mmBtu), during the period between May 1 and October 1 (the ozone season).

Email. In many areas, industrial boiler operators face stricter regulation of NOx emissions, even with the use of clean natural gas. In some areas, operators are required to meet what are called “Ultra-Low NOx” (ULN) requirements, typically less than 10-12 ppm. It is widely believed that the ULN requirements will be broadened to more areas.
